The Welcome Center was originally the North
Gatehouse for the agricultural estate of W. Seward and Lila Webb. From
1985 to 1986, the gatehouse was rehabilitated for use as a Welcome Center
and Farm Store as part of a Shelburne Farms campaign to increase public
access to the property. A new room added
for viewing an interpretive slide show of the property.
Today, the Welcome Center and Farm Store is open
year-round, offering Shelburne Farms award-winning farmhouse cheddar,
childrens and adult books covering natural history, agricultural and
environmental topics, and many Vermont crafts and products.
A visit
to Shelburne Farms begins here with:
- Ticket sales for general admission
and property tours (seasonally)
- A 15-minute slide show chronicling
the evolution of the property
- Sale of our farmhouse cheddar
cheese and other Vermont products.
